Why DataBank was formed...
Before DataBank was launched in the late ‘90s, DataBank founders provisioned extensive market research programs between 1998 & 1999. The market research reports revealed that a large number of blue chip companies within the financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, and professional services sector expressed serious concerns with the service they were receiving, in a number of key areas.

After studying the results of the market research, DataBank was formed in 1999 with the specific intent of providing a service level that eliminated all the concerns raised in the market research.
DataBank today satisfies the market requirement for a secure, reliable IT focused off site storage provider. The DataBank management team have been providing data storage and protection products and integration services to Top 1000 IT sites across Australia for over 20 years, including the supply of backup and storage hardware, software and professional services. DataBank’s focus on data storage and protection has helped us develop an intrinsic understanding of the role data, and its protection plays within a corporation. DataBank aims to continually improve and enhance the services we provide our clients by utilising the most advanced, proven technologies available.
Freightways
DataBank was acquired by Freightways of New Zealand in July 2006. Freightways’ corporate approach and positioning in Australia has enabled DataBank to expand its operations into geographical areas previously serviced by partners, and hence improve the continuity of its service.
